Herbaceous Perennials

At Stone and Leaf we specialise in growing many types of herbaceous perennials, many of which are not available from your average garden centre. Perennials live for more than two years. The growth dies down annually but the roots survive. They grow and bloom over the spring and summer, die back every autumn and winter, and then return in the spring from their root stock.

To accompany our range of perennials we also stock a line of complimentary, exotic/architectural shrubs. Shrubs are a woody plant which is smaller than a tree and has several main stems arising at or near the ground. Technically shrubs are perennials but are differentiated by the fact they regrow annually from the stems as opposed to the roots. A shrub is distinguished from a tree by its multiple stems and shorter height

We stock a staple range of native or indigenous trees as well as a range of rarer trees that you will not find on the high street, all of which are selected for their stunning flowers or foliage. We provide a free consultation service based on your aspect and micro-climate space.

As with the rest of our plant range the climbers we choose to offer are based on years of planting experience. Many climbers are generally unsuitable in a domestic situation because they can damage property or have a high maintenance implication.  Climbers are a weak-stemmed plant that derives its support from climbing, twining, or creeping along a surface. Although some climbers can grow independently as shrubs.

As with our other collections, we select only the finest quality  bulbs that would be the first choice of the discerning plantperson. You will rarely see such a large range of in-the-green anywhere.
